Description

The course on Comparative Tort Law aims at a deeper, comparative understanding of the mechanism of tort law in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the USA and the Netherlands.
Main topics will be: How to construct tort law; privacy and tort law; causation; liability for defective products, vicarious liability, defences.

Objectives of the course
The course on Comparative Tort Law aims at a deeper, comparative understanding of the mechanism of tort law in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the USA and the Netherlands.

The following achievement levels apply with regard to the course:
After completion of this course, students will have knowledge of:

  • How to construct tort law; privacy and tort law; causation; liability for defective products; vicarious liability; defences (assumption of risk, comparative negligence).

  • The retake will be oral (approx. 30 minutes). You will be given 40 minutes for a written preparation.
