This course offers a comprehensive overview of the Russian economy since 1991, with a focus on the most recent years. Among the issues that we will discuss are the Soviet legacy, economic reform, energy, the resource curse, state-business relations, the informal economy, corruption, and external economic relations.
Students gain insight into the main issues regarding the Russian economy. They are trained to apply insights from political economy and economics to the context of the Russian economy. Students also develop research skills through a number of written assignments.
