Description:
Jazz developed from a obscure kind of music from a multi-cultural, urban subculture via popular music to art music. This development in the music took place behind the historical, social and technical developments of the 20th century. As a result there is a number of distinctive jazz styles. A large number of listening examples will be presented in the lessons. The goal of the course is to learn and distinguish the various styles.

Basic knowledge of notation and theory of harmony.
