Music: Gregorian Chant

Description

This tutorial focusses on the the notation, performance practice, histroy and liturgical context of Gregorian chant, including the the different forms and genres within the corpus. Apart from gaining ability in reading, singing and interpreting Gregorian notation in its many forms, and gaining practical and historical knowledge regarding repertoire, at the end of the year Gregorian mass-songs of one sunday will be studied, rehearsed and performed in context.

Schedule

First and second semester. Classes ar taught at the Royal Conservatoire (Juliana van Stolberglaan 1, Den Haag), 11:00 till 13:00, room M301. First lecture: friday september 12th, 2014.
