Music: Computer-assisted algorithmic composition

Description

Various aspects of composing musical structures using computer programs are discussed. Concepts derived from Koenig, Xenakis, and others are explored.

Lecture and seminar

Course objectives

Student scan learn to generate musical material using the AC toolbox. Concepts by Koenig, Xenakis and others will be explored.

Time table

First and second semester. Friday 10.00 – 12.30 hours, computer room. Course takes place at the Royal Conservatory, Juliana van Stolberglaan 1, Den Haag (near The Hague ).

Coarse load

Students from Leiden have to do an extra assignment to acquire the 5 ECTS
