Fine Arts: Graphic design 2

Entrance requirements

Students are required to design two CD-covers in two different styles. The choice of design is free. Designs may also be shown on a laptop.
Entrance interviews will be on January 29 2013. Students who have applied for this elective will be notified on the time and place of the interview.

Description

Students will learn about all the different apsects of the designing process. They will gain insight into the relationship between the purpose of communication, text, image and form.
Furthermore students are encouraged to develop a critical attitude and an individual view towards graphic design, to learn how to deal with images both on the level of form and content, and to acquire technical skills.
Assignments will focus on the designing of stamps, book covers, leaflets, infographics and posters. There will also be some free assignments.

Schedule

First semester. Lessons take place at the Royal Academy of Arts (Prinsessegracht 4, Den Haag), on Tuesdays from 19.00-21.30. First class tba.

Mode of instruction

Practical lessons with individual guidance and group meetings, group debates.

Mode of assesment

Individual assesment of work at the end of the course

Literature

All applicable materials and tools, computer hardware and software, magazines, books and audiovisual means.
