Fine Arts: Drawing 1

Entrance requirements

  • make five drawings (A4) based on a thema of choice.
    Students are free in their choice of material and subjects.

Description

Students examine the possibilities of images. The greatest part of the attention will go towards how an image (the painting or drawing) is formed and how an idea takes shape (image-development). By way of making several exercises students study how subject, colour, composition, structure and handwriting are employed to express and idea or theme.

Course objectives

Classes are primarily intended to learn and understand about visual language; technical skills will be taught for those who have need of it. Lessons will focus on image development and the intensiffying of the the perception. The course consists of several modules, in which a specific theme or vision will be studied. Objectives are learning to consciously apply visual elements and the development of an own visual language.

Schedule

First semester. Lessons take place at the Royal Academy of Arts (Prinsessegracht 4, Den Haag), on Mondays from 19.00-21.30. First class tba.

Mode of instruction

Practical lessons with individual guidance and group meetings.

Mode of assesment

Individual assesment of work at the end of the course

Literature

All applicable materials for painting and drawing, as well as tools, magazines, books and audiovisual means.
