Admission requirements

This course is part of the minor Security, Safety and Justice, taught by a lecturer from TU Delft. The course can only be taken within the framework of participation in the minor SSJ.

Description

In this course you will be introduced to the concept of security as it is applied within organizations. You step into the role of security manager in a corporate environment, where you are faced with manuals, methods of analysis, crises, and so on. This way, you get acquainted with the responsabilities of a security manager, while at the same time academic skills are taught to you, so that you can evaluate how the work can be done in a more efficient way.

Course objectives

The student gets to know the work environment of the security manager. Attention is given to the content of the work, as well as the context, and the differences between theory and practice. The following objectives can be differentiated:

  • Introduce the tasks and responsabilities of the security manager.
  • Apply security analysis techniques in a structured way
  • Make critical choices regarding security issues, explain these choices and communicate them.
  • Translate current security subjects to the operational environment
  • Acquire academic skills for security analysis and security communication

Resit
Students will be permitted to resit an examination if they have taken the first sit and earned a mark between 3 and 5.5 or with permission of the Board of Examiners.

Resit written exam
Students that want to take part in a resit for a written exam, are required to register via uSis. Use the activity number that can be found on the ‘timetable exams’.
