Quantitative Pharmacology

Course
2015-2016

Description

This lecture series comprises the theoretical basis and application of quantitative pharmacology, with specific focus on population pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) modeling.
Characterizing and predicting the onset, intensity, and duration of drug effects in individuals as well as in populations, requires quantification of both drug exposure (PK) and response (PD). This can be done using mathematical equations and statistical principles that reflect both the different processes underlying drug PK and PD and the inter-individual variability in these processes. This lecture series will cover general quantitative pharmacological concepts, mathematical and statistical concepts involved in population PK-PD modeling, as well as methodological aspects regarding data analysis with the population approach.
