Only open to Master’s students Methodology & Statistics, Psychology.

Description

Consulting is an integral part of a psychometrician’s life, whether in academia, government or industry. Statistical and methodological consultation may involve brief interactions to respond to very specific questions or long term associations as a member of research projects.

Course objectives

The general goal of this course is to develop consultancy skills, such as how to effectively communicate with researchers and practitioners, both orally and in writing. Emphasis will be given to issues of design, sampling, measurement instruments, data analysis and statistics in a consultation setting.

A specific aim is to enhance effective communication skills in the various phases of the consultation process (intake, progress and final advice).

Students need to enroll for the course.
Master’s course registration

Examination

Students are not automatically enrolled for an examination. They can register via uSis from 100 to 10 calendar days before the date. Students who are not registered will not be permitted to take the examination.
Registering for exams

Mode of Instruction

8 3-hour meetings with both lectures and consulting labs (training sessions) with case studies and role plays.

Assessment Method

  • Presentations of reading materials, role plays and (will be graded on process, communication skills and technical accuracy).

  • Final written exam.

The final grade will be a weighted average of the examination grade (0.5) the role playing + final written report (.33) and the presentations (0.17).
