The Faculty of Humanities has a wealth of expertise in the fields of philosophy, history, religious studies, art history, literature, linguistics and area studies. The Faculty employs a staff of more than 700 and serves nearly 4,300 students.

The profile of the Faculty is determined by its breadth, and above all by its worldwide expertise, international orientation, successful research and its multiplicity of mutually reinforcing scientific approaches. With its thorough command of a wide range of languages, the faculty’s staff is not only capable of conducting its research and teaching with cultural and historical depth, but also of interpreting modern society.
