Global Public Health, 2014-2015

Determining the physical and mental health needs of Filipinos after the destruction of Typhoon Haiyan; identifying the role of trade policies on the rapid increase of diabetes coupled with intractable chronic malnutrition in a rural indigenous village of Guatemala; measuring the impact of China’s aid on local healthcare access in Sudan; all require the knowledge of a practitioner of Global Public Health. Despite tremendous advances in medicine, education and public sanitation and hygiene, social processes, such as globalization, continue to impact the health of populations and maintain the centrality of health as a global challenge.
